First you should close the dipstick hole. The cylinder cover vent should be enough for the engine to vent itself. The vents in the plate should be toward exhaust side. Make sure there is nothing blocking the vent in the cover (dirt wasp love these kind of holes). Then make sure you have the gaskets installed correctly (head cover, then full gasket, then steel plate with holes toward exhaust, then open cutout type gasket. the baffles in the head cover will catch the oil as the air tries to escape out the vent hose. Seal up the hole you drilled in the dipstick. Good luck.

Thank you for the guideance SWARDLAW. JB weld now plugging hole drilled in dipstick.
Did find partial blockage in cover vent.
Found plate and gasket vents towards intake side, same as vent tube nipple, will install towards exhaust when new gaskets arrive.

Thanks again

Tim

After looking at underside of head cover on work bench, can now see why vented crankcase
air carried oil with it. All the cast fins to collect oil is bypassed when vent plate and matching
gasket are installed backwards as mine was. Just keeping my fingers crossed that venting
remains good once new gaskets are installed, instead of just at idle.

Double posts

When you click on the "submit" icon, just wait. Only click on it once. It takes a couple seconds things to process but, it will eventually get there. When you hit it that second time (thinking it didn't respond), it creates the double post.

Have posted in alot of forums over the years with no problem, but your suggestion
stands to reason. Next post I will make sure I'm not pulling at my hair constantly
stabbing the submit button:)
