Ca77 Coil Melted?

Post by dickjewells » Wed Apr 23, 2014 6:11 pm

Just did a partial restore on my grandfathers ca77 and I replaced the coil and rectifier with parts off of ebay ( this could be my first problem) but after a week of riding the bike wouldn't turn over and upon inspection I noticed the coil was completely melted from the inside out? I got no resistance from one side of the coil to the other and also ive got a rectifier that is drawing amps and so the battery is not holding a charge. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

i burned through a bunch of ignition coils on my dream before i realized that i was leaving the key on.

if you are not leaving your key in and on- maybe your switch is bad and still passing current even though the key is not in and in an on position.

one replacement option is this:
