Late 1965 or '66. There is no way to tell for sure. What does your title say?

bike was found in my grandfathers garage after he passed away and grandma has no clue where the title would be at so that avenue came to a dead end quick. I appreciate the input though.

DMV

Check with your DMV. If the bike was licensed for street use, they should be able to find the title in their system. If it was titled in your Grandpa's name, your Grandma can probably order a duplicate title from the DMV and then transfer the bike to you. Don't be surprised if the title shows a later "year" than what I suggested.

There was no "model year" for these old Honda's. Even if you can tell the year in which it was built, that only means so much. Back in the day it was common for these bikes to be titled as new by the dealer in the year they were sold. According to records that Bill Silver got from Honda, their official records show sales of 305 Dreams into 1970 which is why you see bikes titled as 1968, 1969 and 1970 even though production ended in 1967. I also saw a bike on eBay that was built with a 1964 frame number but, sold in November 1963 and so remains titled today as a 1963. A picture of the original sales receipt was included with the auction so it is pretty hard to argue with that. Others have reported the same thing.

I hope that helps. Best wishes on your endeavor.

Dream Years

Post by hondadreamca77 » Tue Apr 29, 2014 1:47 pm

When I restored my 68 Dream the tag on the wiring harness had a date of 1965. I just assumed they used up what ever stock they had on hand when building a bike. Pretty sure the wiring harness had never been removed prior to my work.

My Dream 305 is titled as a 1968.
68' 305 Dream, 75' Honda 750-four, 74' Honda CL 125, 72' Honda CA 70, 80' Honda Passport, 74' Aerimachi Harley Sprint 125, 64' Yamaha 90.
