Ca77 305 engine
Ca77 305 engineHey guys im new to motorcycles and well i got this 64 dream along wit two parts bikes and a pickup truck load of parts for free, the black one im working on and plan on keeping has 99% origional paint and ive made it 100% complete and was last rode in 1970 with 15000 miles on it well i changed the oil and hooked it up to battery got great fire tried to get it to start i have great compression in the left cylinder but NONE on the right, what could be wrong? Compression ring on piston, head gasket? What? And also would it hurt the value of the origional bike to restore the engines apperience or should i just clean it up and keep the paint thats already on the engine?
Thanks Aaron
CompressonWith a gauge you got zero or just a low reading???
Sounds like stuck rings....I've had this happen. Look down cylinder with a bore scope if you have one. Pull plug on that side and squirt some lubricating oil down the hole. Wait and slowly turn engine over with a wrench...repeat several times and let sit overnight. Second I would manually turn engine over and make sure valves are adjusted correctly on both sides....then verify point gap....just get that stuff out of the way. 68' 305 Dream, 75' Honda 750-four, 74' Honda CL 125, 72' Honda CA 70, 80' Honda Passport, 74' Aerimachi Harley Sprint 125, 64' Yamaha 90.
stuck ringsI've run in stuck rings before and had compression come back up to normal. Use high quality oil in cylinder (through plug hole) turning over by hand, then baby it at idle several times running low RPM.
