There were some red washers made of some sort of fiber material, and they all came apart on disassembly.
My parts book dated Oct 20, 1968 shows 93500-06025 as you stated. My June 20, 1960 parts book shows part number JP524 (5x24).
My Dream is a 66 model, and it has the late tank with a seam so it "should" have what the later parts book calls for, the 6 x 25mm. But it doesn't, for what reason I have no idea.
Part Number Needed for Petcock Screws
I guess HONDA made lots of changes and so did the owners over the years, Ya nay want to tape the threads to 6mm if no 5mm come along. ..........lm
Yep, though mine "looks" factory. If a previous owner changed these he did a great job. I hope the screws I have ordered work, I hate re-tapping.
Today I received the 5mm "JIS" stainless machine screws I ordered from McMaster-Carr, only they are not JIS.
Well, not 1966 JIS anyway. Evidently there are two meanings to "JIS". There is a modern "Japanese Industrial Standard" but dimensionally it is the same as any other metric screw/bolt etc. I thought I was getting machine screws that conformed to the "Japanese Industrial Standard" that sub 6mm Honda screws conformed to prior to ~1968 or so when they adopted the metric standard that "everyone else" was using. And I am still perplexed as to why my CA77 tank has 5mm screws when the book states that it should have 6mm, which would have been standard metric thread and no hassle. I didn't want to do it, but I have no option left to re-tap now.
According to this old post and the April 2005 edition of the VJMC newsletter, there's a gentleman named Joseph Tubb who sells the old JIS screws. I don't know if he's still around or if he still has any to sell, but it might be worth a shot. If you decide to contact him, please let us know how it turns out!
