Rectifier does not act as a regulator. You can use a combination regulator/rectifier from a Kohler stationary engine.
Like this one - make sure it is securely grounded when you install. I would probably run a ground wire from the motor to the attaching bolt of the regulator. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/kohler-voltage-regulator
