New To The Group - CL72New To The Group - CL72Hey everyone,
I wanted to join this site since I just picked up a 1963 CL72. It's in pretty bad shape. A couple hack jobs here and there...and unfortunately, it does not have all the original parts. I plan to clean things up, undo as many hacks as possible, get it running/riding well and safely...then just enjoy it. I don't plan on a full restore at this time, because it would just be too time consuming and costly. I know this because I spent the better part of a year cafe'ing a 1972 CB350...which took a great deal of time and I continually had to throw money at it haha. So here are a few pics of the CL72 I just grabbed....and a pic of my cafe. Nice to be here! hey G-Man, thanks! it's hard to see in the pics, but the front fender isn't actually original...at least I don't think it is? you can kind of see it, but the front 8 inches or so of the fender is a separate piece that is bolted on to the fender. Honda didn't make it like this did they? the front part of the brace is actually an all-thread rod bent to shape too, but the rear part of the brace is original. also, on the rear fender, there appears to be another section riveted on at the end. the taillight is bolted to this section. did Honda do this weird bolting and riveting on these CL72 fenders?? I was kind of hoping you were going to say I had some super rare fenders haha yeah, the rear fender looks somewhat factory, but still a little weak on the engineering side IMO but either way, I'm really excited to have a great project!
