CB77 Oil Filter- How often do you really need to clean it?

Changed my oil yesterday and decided since it had been about 7 months and a few oil changes since the last time I cleaned the filter, I'd clean it. It wasn't very dirty, at all. There was a little bit of crud stuck in the corners of the filter, where it would naturally build due to centrifugal force, but nothing like what I had expected. Could I have gone even longer? Perhaps regular oil changes are keeping the filter clean? I dunno, what are all your thoughts on this?

Make sure you cannot rotate the filter before you put the cover on. If the drive sprocket is loose it will not spin the filter, or very little.

I've been cleaning mine every change.

It's definitely not loose. I'm pretty confident I re-assembled everything correctly. Putting it back in there without taking the left side cover off is tricky, but easily done after 10 or so minutes of cursing and moving it around ;)

Per the CB77 owner's manual, the oil filter should be cleaned every 4,000 km. I personally see very little dirt accumulation at those intervals. I suppose if I slipped the clutch a lot I'd see more buildup of the clutch material, which I believe is what the gray gooey stuff is.

I notice the recommended interval is 10,000 km in my CB450 manual, which seems more reasonable.

Oh well, it's cheap insurance, unless you break something.
