right side cover on my cafe project is cracked, and I've had it to two of the locals. One tried and said he couldnt do it. the other one looked at it, asked if it was off a Harley, and then said it couldnt be done. Would appreciate any enlightenment on the proper way this should be done, and any shop that anyone has used and would recommend. ( I thought this should be a pretty straightforward deal - ???)

Mike, what is the side cover off of? I have a cl77 that I had to weld both side covers on. The crack was right at the area where the cover slips onto the air box frame. All I did was drill a small hole where the crack was, weld the hole shut, grind, sand, prime, a little bondo, sand and paint. I used a mig welder. If you could put a picture up, might be able to look at it and see if it is the same as I had to do and maybe we could give you some more info to help you. If the side cover is aluminum, a little different method could possibly work, such as tig weld with aluminum, or aluma (sp) Weld as G-man does.
