Help with oil leakOil leakI purchased a mixed set on ebay, and it had two of the 6.5 mm seals. I just installed the motor in my other Cb77, and it also leaked from that seal. I also replced it with the extra 6.5mm seal, with a coat of three bond 1104 around it, and it cured that one as well. i don't know if my others were from a bad batch or what. I know that there are some seal sets for sale on ebay right now, or maybe someone else on this site knows a beetr source for new seals. Good luck with your project!

Re: Oil leakDid you look at the edges of the seals that leaked?
Any sign of damaged edges? Did you cut the sharp edge of the engine cases before you installed the seals? I have those seals here if ya need more. ...............lm
iol leakYes, there was some damage to outside edge of seal, and I did not know about cutting the sharp edges on the cases. I have a deburring tool for cleaning up holes afetr drilling. I'll try that on my next engine that I do. Thanks for the great advice and help!
Davomoto Removing sharp edgesIf you don't mind me sticking my nose in it, you can shave the sharp edges with a short sturdy blade knife you don't mind cutting aluminum with. A burr knife would be preferable. (A three sided knife for deburring metal parts, Available through industrial supply houses that cater to machine shops)
Make sure none of the shavings get inside the bearing bore. Just my $.02 worth. Gary '65 CL77 Owner
