Air intake hose replacement

Post by davesdreamin » Sun Feb 17, 2013 8:26 pm

Does anyone know of a good replacement for the original air intake hose from the air filter to carb? I don't want to pay 60 - 70 bucks. I've looked on here and only found a partial solution with a somewhat vague description of a part at home depot from the post "Air Filter to Carb Tube Repair Instructions. $8.00 fix." I'm going there tonight to look for this part. The guy on the phone was of no help, granted I don't have much to go on.

I might give that a try if I can't find a decent hose replacement. I'm more inclined to use the original air filter set up because I spent a day rebuilding the other one from a general one and some gasket sealant. I'll let you know if I find anything worthwhile.

You might try claussstudios.com. That particular item is not listed on their site, but may be available. Regards, Chase

I think I have a spare set of reproduction hoses. I paid $80 for them and would be happy to send them to you for $40 shipped. PM me if you want them and I will try and dig them out. You will need the spring fasteners. I only have the rubbers. I don't need them now that I have become another amal carb heretic:

I emailed the guys there and they are working on putting one out sometime later this year. I'm also waiting to hear back from some British outfit.

cheap air hose

Post by redblk63 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:31 pm

I found that a used radiator hose I had on my wall did the job well. Even the curves were suitable. Fits so well I don't need clamps. I believe (not positive) it was the lower hose for a 1979 Chevy with a 350.

The price was right!
