holes in case?holes in case?new to this, trying to fix oil leaks. have figured out problems are probably oil seals and so plan to replace. in course of dismantling right side i've come across two holes in the lower case that puzzle me and i wonder if anyone can help me understand. can someone instruct me on how to insert a picture in this, and then i will show you what i mean.
holes in case question - now with picturecurious about the highlighted holes. the left one is a vertical threaded hole with another hole above through to the top of the case as though a wire or cable should come through. the right is a small hole that appears to go down into the crankcase.
Re: holes in case question - now with pictureThe left on is the end of a stud with the nut on the other end. (look under engine)
The right should not have a hole where you point but there is a drain hole above it. (look at top of case). ....lm
holeson the left, i see the stud, understand that now.
there is still an unused 1/4 inch hole above that to the outside world, though. still don't understand what is supposed to come in or go out through that. on the right, there really is a very small hole in the recess. don't know if it goes all the way thru to the crankcase. i see the hole above, which appears to be a drain from the outside area under the upper crankcase cover. i guess this would mean it is intended that fluid from the cylinder top breather plus rainwater can drain down inside the right side casing to exit at the bottom hole.
Re: holesWell now stick a wire into that hole and see what's up.
If it goes through you would have tranny oil come out. Take a look. ..........lm
