Need a side cover and mufflers for CA77 WTB

Post by Mark13018 » Thu Dec 13, 2012 8:03 am

Hello, I just picked up this sweet 1964 CA77 and it needs a couple things. I need a battery side (left) cover and some mufflers for it. Any help or pointing to the direction of some for sale would be greatly appreciated. I may need a couple other things but wont know until I can get into it and see what it all looks like. Here is a not so good pic of the bike and I just posted more info in the CA77 general thread. Let me know. Thanks, Mark

Mark, here is a source for mufflers. Try ebay for the sidecovers.

Battery Cover

Mark, I can't tell for sure but it looks like your battery box is the late style with the fatter, shorter battery. If so, the good news is you can get a battery at Walmart (posts reversed), but be careful when you go to buy the side cover and make sure you get the late one.

Yeah it is a short long battery and I was wondering about that. I was looking at ebay already and since I have no side cover originally I have no clue what I'm looking for and all the side covers on ebay look about the same. Main differences so far were no holes to one hole to holes but you can't really tell if they are there from the factory or the owner. Then some have a flap at the bottom and some don't. Some have a rectangular hole some have a random shaped line hole in the bottom. And as far as I can tell the shape of the overall cover appears to be about the same... anyone have a picture of the correct late model cover I need so I know what I'm shopping for and I don't buy the wrong one? Pictures front and back of what I need would make it sooo easy. Thanks!

Holy s4!t batman!! Those mufflers are 1149.00 US dollars!. Anyone have a source for a poor mans muffler? Hahaha... I love the bike but I don't think I can spend that much for the mufflers. And I'm not doing a full resto on it right now either. That will have to be a purchase for the next set of mufflers. For now I'm trying to buy some at a lesser price point than that. No offence but that's a lot of money for some mufflers.

Mark, my apologies! I forgot about this company. Some members on this forum have had difficulty either doing business or contacting the owner for various reasons. I cannot speak for either as I have no experience with Apexcycle. Hope this gives you a choice. Best of luck. Again I apologize for not inclucing it in my other post.

Those look very similar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-C72-CA72- ... d4&vxp=mtr
If the Apex guy is hard to get a hold of, if I go the ebay route at least I can use ebay to fight with/for me. I don't know though, maybe the Apex guy has a better product or I'm missing something. I don't care too much about the price difference there, I just don't want to go up to a 1000+ dollar set.

Also noticed on his site he used to have the solo seat for them. I was looking online at the solo seats and I do not at all like 2 up seats and have solo's on all my other bikes and like the look and was thinking about doing it but couldn't find a good aftermarket because it seems impossible to find OEM. Any one got any ideas on that? Thanks.
