What Goes Here?

Post by RRIXX » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:30 pm

I am in the process of bringing my Dream back to stock and have now removed the after market signal lights. There is a hole left in the frame and I was wondering what kind of bolt goes here. There were some acorn style nuts that I removed off the signal light assembly and I was wondering whether they were used for this purpose.

My 1964 has a bolt and a acorn nut.
On mine the bolt is used to hold my luggage rack.
I bet the nuts you have came with the turn signals. I can take a photo if you need it.

You could be right. Perhaps it's just a regular bolt that goes there.

Funny, I also remember these type of bolts when working on a project.
Funny thing is, that project was 1968 Plymouth Barracuda, and they came in the boxes with spare parts...
I always wondered...

My bet is that they are part of an Oldsmobile !

Because my barracuda also got side mirrors of a 50's oldmobile, also with the 3 'spokes' , which is typical for oldsmobile cars if im correct.

Those bullet bolts/nuts are common customizing bits. They've been around for years and are often sold at license plate nuts/bolts.

I use one without the ear, to hide the rear seat screw hole on my Harley when I have the solo seat in place. People ask me what that little pointed chrome bullet is for and I tell them it stops the wife from sliding off when I take her for a ride.

regards,
Rob
