headlight replace or retrofit?
headlight replace or retrofit?i've found used headlights for $50 - $100 on ebay...i also saw new halogen lights for $100...i've heard the headlight can be retrofitted with a halogen bulb, like a H4, which costs around $10...got any ideas?
Most US Dream Headlights are 'sealed beam' which means that the bulb is part of the reflector. Fitting a halogen bulb means cutting the old bulb out and epoxying the new bulb in to the hole.
If you are handy with tools you can save yourself $90. You have to get the replacement bulb lined up properly so that it is in the correct place and orientation in the reflector. Once you have done that you are all set. In Europe we are luckier as we had dream headlamps with replaceable bulbs. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
