Do you think a 350 16 will clear every thing ok? My local bike shop can get brand new IRC highway tread for 65 bucks each. I have them in 300 16 on my CA160 and luv them! Thinking about the whitewall paint too.

350x16 will clear just fine.

I'm sure I mentioned this here before, but a friend rode the Motogiro a year ago on a Sears (Gilera) 125 with the ORIGINAL TIRES that came on the bike. I rode a section of the course with him and he rode it hard. He roadraces so when I say hard, I mean hard.

When we loaded the bike into the back of his truck at the end of the second day, somebody yell "LOOK!" The rear tire sidewall had split in two spots and the inner tube was starting to protrude. Saw it with my own eyes. He was a very lucky boy.

I agree that old tires are for museums.

I'm not sure what a story about someone that would race on 40 year old tires actually tells us.

I do not advocate using old tires...When I got my near mint 750 Four it had perfect looking original tires that were 23 years old with low miles. But due to age; they were replaced immediately/ forget looks. When I recently ordered one Firestone and saw the quality I immediately ordered a second one for my Dream project. Seeing is believing and I had to see quality of one before plunking down change for two. Vintage is cool folks but not worth it when "being original" conflicts with safety and common sense.
