parts for CB77parts for CB77any ideas on 'reasonable' sources of misc small parts like nuts and bolts for CB77? I tried filling out the parts form on this forum but haven't received a response.
"Authentic" costs extra. If you want usable bolts that fit and hold stuff together, you can probably get individual pieces at Ace Hardware or Home Depot. They are stocking more and more metric stuff.
But the bolts may not be authentic. Above are the proper bolts to hold a CB77 seat. Twenty bucks for two bolts, on eBay. If you are willing to use $1 bolts that will do the job, you may find they have 13mm heads, so you will need to carry another wrench. A stock CB77 has no use for a 13mm wrench (nor 12mm for that matter). You can hold on the mufflers with inch-based nuts and bolts, and nobody will know but you. In Toronto Ontario, I have seen boxes with several bolts and nuts, washer, or lockwashers, for $1 a box. These were in "Dollar" stores, (but not DOLLARAMA) at various sites around the city. I have not looked elsewhere, because I got a lot when I was there. but i thought....but i thought the thread pitch on at least some of the screws/bolts was different than the metric products i can find at my local store. for example, i wanted to replace a machine screw that holds the taillight to the bracket, and i discovered it is size 4 x .08 pitch whereas the #4 machine screw in the hardware score is 4 x 0.7. I assumed this was true of other screws and bolts in the engine and frame. Am i incorrect?
You are right. Honda used JIS fasteners in the early days which means different thread pitch and different screw head pattern for the cross-head screws.
Try and restore fasteners where you can and look out on eBay for JIS screws. Even the stuff direct from Honda can have the wrong thread if it's a plain fastener.
