New CB77 Owner: Where does the gas tank equalizer plug inThe crossover line has nothing to do with the reserve setting on the petcock. It just equalizes the fuel level left to right.
When the petcock is "on" it draws fuel from the long brass tube. When the fuel level goes below the top of that tube, you start to slow down... Switching to "res" draws the rest of the fuel from the bottom of the tank using the other hole in the petcock that doesn't have a long brass tube pressed into it. This time, when you're out... you're out. I put short hose stubs on both the petcock and tank nipples for the crossover, and plug them with 5/16 ball bearings while I'm figuring out the carbs. Not sure the crossover is really needed unless you run near empty which you shouldn't do anyway. -48

I have to say that I don't have any trouble's regarding the fuel left vs. right. When driving the fuel get's to the other side via bump's and turns etc. Probably a reason why Honda got rid of them, I don't consider it as a necessity. On the tank however I do have a tube on the right side, my CB77 is from 1966.
