CL77 Headlight questionCL77 Headlight questionI did a search and found no threads on this topic. I lost one beam on my original sealed headlight and took at look at the Honda parts and see that replacements, if available are priced like solid gold. Need to check other sources, but thought I'd ask if anyone has found either a decent replacement headlight or a way to modify a dead headlight to accept replacement bulbs?
I thought about carefully removing the lens from the housing so I can clean it and then maybe attach a modern removable socket to the housing with something like 3M 5200. Gotta get the lens off to remove the original bulb. The other choice is figure out a way to attach a modern 5-1/2 inch headlight to the CL77 headlight bezel. I don't ride at night as a rule so just need two beams for passing inspection. Any experience, thoughts, suggestions? Thanks, Rob
Hello Rob,
http://www.classichondarestoration.com/ ... d_169.html Assuming the CB and Cl are the same. I did manage to fit a H4 capsule into an old burnt out sealed beam. I JB'd it in though so it's really only a one time use. Still running it though, 2 yrs now. Goody 64' CB77

I found H4 size LED headlight capsules on ebay for pretty cheap. I bought a couple but haven't tried one yet. They are supposed to be as bright as your original sealed beam. Especially for inspection purposes I would think they should work great. Sorry for the late reply. I have an H4 headlight that has been in my parts cabinet for over 20 years. It will fit, but lacks the propery mounting tabs for the Honda bezel. I'm also a bit concerned that the wattage may be higher than the original. Although the giro is long over, I'm on a business trip now and have not gone near the bike since I returned.
I suspect for $20 I'll just buy one of those replacements. Thanks, Rob
