I am trying to get this thing back together for Rocker Box in Milwaukee by the 4th of Aug. I thought I saw some O'Rings on the front outside studs between the upper case and the cylinders when I took it apart (old guy memory). My Bill Silver CD is not working for some reason. Can anyone help me out? I really do not see any reason for the O'Rings? It appears the right front stud also lets oil get to the cam. Can anyone help me out?

Gasket between cylinders and upper case?Try cmsnl.com for nice parts diagrams. Your memory isn't that bad... The o-rings go between the cylinders and head on the front outer studs around the "knock pins." You'll see the oversize holes in the head gasket to accommodate the o-rings. Only a base gasket between the top case and cylinder block.

You are right the graphics were great. Well this explains a few things. The P.O. had just put new sleeves and pistons in this engine (less than 100 miles). I took it apart just to get the head and cyclinders cleaned up but found one piston seized to the pin and the pin was seized on the rod. So a different crank and new pistons later I am set to go. I do know there was an O'Ring on the right side next to the case. I remember digging it out with a pick. At that time I could see no reason for it. Now as I look it over closer I bet that ring was holding oil from getting to the upper engine. Well Thanks again for your help. Jon I have a pdf of the CL77 parts manual.
