Oil pump won't rotateOil pump won't rotateI rebuilt the oil pump with a new A gear and parts from two salvaged pumps. After reassembly it won't rotate. It seems like when the two halfs are screwed together its clamping down on either the A gear, B gear, or both. Has anyone else had issues with this? Any help truly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Oil pump won't rotateTake it apart and rotate the sprocket.
If it turns freely you may look at the gears and see if the gear with the pin is down/level with the base. ...................lm
LM good call on the gasket. Slight overlap with gears was causing binding. A little trimming fixed it up.
New question. On my old strainer the area with the screens was shorter allowing the use of the oil receiver (1962 cb77). I had to get a new strainer which is taller and does not allow the oil receiver to fit. Is it ok to use the new strainer and eliminate the use of the receiver? What pupose did the receiver really achieve? Thanks for all of your advice. Husker
That plastic sort of part was discontinued and the new screen was issued for most of the engines.
I'd say the HONDA engineers felt the new design was better. I won't give a guess as it would be just a guess. ......lm
