cb77 battery drain
cb77 battery drainnew harness
well new everything i guess every nut bolt tire and spoke third new battery in a month drain down in 3 or so days could it be the repop rectifier and if so will the radioshack conversion be the fix if not where should i look thanks in advance guys Have you tried unplugging the rectifier and seeing if it drains down then? A quicker approach- if you have an ohmmeter- would be to check continutity to ground keeping in mind to use the negative probe on the ground. There shouldn't be any. You could also try removing the fuse and check for a ground on the ignition side.
Original selenium rectifiers are problematic, repops not so much, but that doesn't mean you couldn't have a bad one. 63 CA78
Disconnected rectifier and still draining Removed ignition fuse ,same thing Any thoughts on where it look now See the points sparking some and touching the points plate Will sometime shock me Guess that can't be right With the fuse out (or the key off) there should be no power to the points. You might try disconnecting everything from the battery, could have an internal drain. At least you could rule that out. Check out the wiring diagram;http://www.honda305.com/forums/download.php?id=4174
With the fuse out there are only a couple of wires that are hot. Or at least supposed to be. You said you have a new wiring harness, is it NOS or one that was made up? Could be wired wrong. Points sparking is a whole different issue. Have you had it running? If there's a problem with the points it would probably be apparent something was wrong. 63 CA78
Re: cb77 battery drainA shot in the dark.
There is a schematic out there which isn't correct. Do you have both RED- RED with WHITE wires on CH?. ...........lm
