I have on just like it! Was made by a company called GT Glass, if I remember correctly. It actually weighs 11 pounds less than a stock tank with the chrome panels. You'll want to use Por 15 or a similar liner if you use it, as the modern gas will eat right through it.

I would suggest Caswell's over POR 15. I know a number of guys that did the POR 15 process and followed the instructions to a T and it did not stick. Caswell's is a phenolic based epoxy and should work much better with a fiberglass tank. Works good on a metal tank as well. Used it on my S90 tank with excellent results.

Rob

Don't have one handy, and I'm busting
ass getting ready for the Moto Mellee tomorrow. Add your location to your profile, and I'll post a pic next week.

I hate to say this because it's gonna date me, but back in the day, there were a number of companies that made fiberglass tank and body kits for bikes. They were pre-painted, usually in wild metalflake designs, that you simply took off your OEM stuff and dropped the new stuff in place. I had a couple of friends who built 750 Honda choppers back then that used these products.

I'm sure the companies that made these are long gone. Remember Dunstall Nortons, Triumphs and even Hondas? Paul Dunstall did quite well in the aftermarket bike business. Dunstall has long since faded from the bike scene and I understand is in real estate now.

The side view of your tank is very similar to the touring tank offered on the Harley H model Sportster back in the early 70's. The indents on your tank are much deeper, however. I would not be surprised if that tank design was not based on the Sportster tank.

regards,
Rob
