I just picked up a CB77 with 21K on the clock. What's the useful life of these engines?
While it runs strong I have some problems with a dragging clutch and shifting into and out of 1st neutral and 2nd gears with he motor running. Advice to me so far has been to replace the clutch adjuster under the right side engine case cover and to clean out the clutch.
The bike may have sat for some time.
Any thoughts on this?
Dragging clutch and problems 1-n-2 gear.
Re: Dragging clutch and problems 1-n-2 gear.Doubt it's the adjuster but it wouldn't hurt to pull that cover off and clean things out. 45 year old grease gets pretty sticky. I'd also make sure the clutch cable isn't binding and is allowing the clutch to engage and disengage fully, and then I'd pull apart the clutch itself and clean up the plates and discs with a light rub emory cloth. If they're worn out, replace them. Parts are available from HONDA.
I've check the cable and it seems fine. The bike wants to pull forward in 1st gear when stopped with the clutch pulled in.
Can I do this work without removing the whole clutch assembly? Can I just take off the clutch cover and remove the four bolts, taking off the pressure plate and remove, clean and replace the discs? Thanks Adam
