Removal of "plastic pads" on gas tank

Is there a preferred way of removing the pads from the gas tank? How are they attached? I don't want to damage anything in the removal process. At times I can be good at that!!

Morning: I just put the old EOM set back on a CL77 tank I painted. As long as the rubber isn't "hard" you can just pull it right off. There is a lip on the tank behind the pad. Grab the very back of the pad and pull out and up. The rest just pops off with a little pulling. It is a little harder getting it back on than off. I hope I explained this so you understand.. Thanks for your reply, Mike. I will have at it. I'm wondering if it would help to apply some heat for reinstallation?? First I have to get it off in good shape! Your instructions were fine

Definately warm them up, and the generally come off easiest in the lower back corner first, just pull them back toward the seat before you pull out! Good luck, Paul
