starter not engaging

Post by Sinkorswim » Fri Mar 02, 2012 4:44 pm

I replaced the rollers and springs and put a new starter in..... I just get a click when I push the start button, however when I tried to kick start i hit the button and it spun? I am really confused plus after a few kicks a loud squeak happens before the bank stops... any advice would be great

thanks

The click you hear is likely the starter relay that's located behind the distribution box cover and just to the right of the coil. Maybe that relay is bad and never sending juice to the starter via the big black cable that comes off the relay?

I just checked the connections and juice is getting to the starter but the connection is bad.... did the old car trick by tapping the starter....it spun for a second.... i just need to go through it.... still trying to find the squeak though
