my originals seemed kinda soft so i bought some new ones. new ones are soft and very different in height! i have some from a core that i believe are 810 springs.
they are very stiff and much thicker of a wire guage. heights are good,
the spring seats on the 810 springs are also much thicker and taller than the stockers.
the motor core was in rough shape and apart when i got it but the head looks good and no damage to the valvetrain.
so i guess my question is what would the gurus use? stock cb77 1965. it will be a weekend warrior and not a racer by any means.
also the 810 spring seats dont fit too well in my motor.( the o.d. seems a litle larger to fit smoothly in the recess in the head)
im thinking the 810 springs and my original seats. what do you think?
valve springs question
810 valve springsHello DCON
I hope someone else on the site will back this up but I dont think the springs you have are 810 "kit parts". The ones I have seen did do not look a lot diffrent to std. and I seem to fit with std. seats, I dont think there is a "810" seat listed. There were a number of aftermarket springs available, possibly with diffrent seat setups. One thing I would watch is that if they are too strong they can help wear out rockers / cam faces, which can be a bit marginal anyway. Most of the newer "race" stuff is not that much stiffer than std. just better quality and more consistant. I would certainly avoid anything that seems that much stiffer. Gordon SAFOJ Like Gordon said, the Honda "810" springs were just a bit stiffer than standard. There are / were a lot of aftermarket springs out there. If you're running a really stiiff spring, you need to have the cam and rockers hard faced. Megacycle cams in San Rafael Ca performs this service. It's around $50 each for the rockers, and I don't remember the cost for doing the cam. They also still offer a nice selection of cams for the 250 and 305 engines.
