Carb cover disassembly...
Carb cover disassembly...I want to have these two items refinished. Do they disassemble so that I can remove the knob and shaft from the body? I attempted to gently unscrew the knob but it was having none of that and I felt if I put any more ooomph into it that something would break.
Sorry that I am bogarting the board lately with all the newbie questions. Just new to this and very enthusiastic. IMG_0594 by rzgkane, on Flickr
Look at it.
It's very simple. Ya remove a pin. ......................lm
Yeah, that's what I thought. But that pin of which you speak was not being very cooperative to my punch and hammer. Took several good whacks at it and the pin did not budge one micrometer. One end of it looks larger than the other so obviously I attempted to put the hurt on the smaller one, to no avail.
IMG_0597 by rzgkane, on Flickr I will try again. UPDATE: No go. That pin is (figuratively) welded into the shaft and just mushroomed out when I pounded on it. Has anyone successfully removed that pin depicted in the photo above and if so how persuasive did you have to get with it?
That's next, although I don't really think what's holding this thing tight as a drum is the little nub outside the shaft. It's effing frozen in there.
I may line up a replacement before I attempt to completely mertalize the thing and end up with nada.
