Motor installation
Motor installationWhat is the best way to put a motor in a rolling chasis dream? Manhandling doesn't work real well.
Motor installBill, I'm not sure on dreams, but on Superhawks I've heard of folks lowering the frame onto the engine............................D
On my Superhawks, I usually balance the motor on a low mechanics/garage seat and roll it into place. I keep a s couple of long rods the same diameter as the engine bolts rounded at the ends, but large phillips screwdrivers do just as well.
Roll engine into place. Rotate rearwards to raise the front mount into the frame. Insert screwdriver to hold the motor in place in the frame. Swing the rear end up into place. Insert another screwdriver into one of the rear engine mounts. Fit all the bolts and tighten. Put my engine back inI use a regular automotive floor jack with wheels and a piece of plywood between the jack and motor. Roll it in from the side and lift it into place. A small one is pretty chaep and will do the job, but a bigger one will work. If yo don't have one, can you borrow one?
