'62 CA77 generator wire #4

Post by gideon » Thu Jan 19, 2012 5:35 pm

I'm trying to wire up a stripped CA77 and so the 305 bok says the yellow and brown wires from the generator go to the rectifier and so does the pink wire by means of the light switch so as to provide more power when the light's on ,OK. there's another wire, a ;light green with thin red striped one - where does it go ? Anybody know I appreciate the info !

From the neutral switch...goes to neutral indicator light.
There is a wiring diagram sticky in this electrical forum above.

The nuetral switch light wire

Hey , thanks , do you think I can just hook up that piunk wire with the yellow one both to the rectifier or would that be too much juice . I know it's for when you use the lights but it does go to the rectifier with the yellow wire according to what the Silvers bok says. -Jeff

The pink and yellow wires get connected together in the ignition switch when in the "lights on" position.
You could hook them together outside the switch, but shouldn't operate the bike like that without the lights on for too long, as it would eventually overcharge the battery.
The charging system is balanced, with no regulator, so the headlight provides a necessary load when turned on.
