Oil Filter Cover ScrewOil Filter Cover ScrewWent for a moderate ride yesterday and when I got home I noticed the top right screw on the oil filter cover backed out and fell out somewhere on the road.
It's the top-right, dome-headed, phillips screw on the oil filter cover that reads "Honda," pictured here- https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=0 ... =inline&zw What is the thread size/pitch/length of this screw? Couldn't pull off the other ones, I think i'm gonna need an impact driver to remove them without stripping the heads. Maybe i'll buy one of those when I go get the replacement screw. The cover is on tight as hell, and not dripping oil, so it's cool for now, but you know, probably a good idea to have three screws in there. Thanks! That's weird, I tried an M6, since one of my chain guard bolts had also backed out, and I bought a new one before I noticed the oil filter cover was missing, and it didn't fit at all, it just spun and spun. I was worried maybe the vibration stripped the threads in the case, but perhaps the chain guard bolt was just not long enough, they are quite short, after all. I'll try a 16 length, maybe it'll make a diff, otherwise I suppose tapping the engine cover ain't such a big deal.
THANK YOU for the tip, the head on that one is close to stripped too, impact driver definitely needed there.... come to think of it, anyone ever dremeled two parallel lines on the head of that screw, turning it into a bolt you can twist with a crescent wrench, instead of a phillips head?
