Thanks G, just need to find a set of mirrors and we will be "close" to calling it complete. We wanted a survivor not a restored bike so was very happy we could save the original paint.

Dan,
Are you saying that you were able to strip off the color from the sheet metal and not damage the original paint underneath? If so, then my hat off to you, sir. That's a labor of great patience.

Yes, they didn't prep the original paint before painting over it, I used laquer thinner and steel wool. The factory paint didn't get cut with the thinner. I guess it was lucky for me the PO did a half butt job painting. I figured I would find a dent with filler or some reason they painted it but there was nothing.

Cannot believe that lac thinner did not attack that original paint. I did not think there was much out that that lac thinner would not attack.

Congrats on bringing it back to original. That's one for the books for sure.
