How about the finish treatment on aluminum other than the engine side covers?

Handlebar clamp, triple tree, and hubs were brushed aluminum with a satin clear coat. Same for the brake plates. The engine case halves, cylinder, head,and head covers all have no coating, just bare aluminum. Glass beading gives a good finish for those parts. There are a number of posts on what kind of glass to use, I think LM suggests a cleaning with sharp glass, then a final blast with smooth. I just cleaned with a strong degreaser, then used smooth glass with good results.

Also - after the glass beading and a good wash and dry, I spray the parts with PB Blaster (like WD-40) and work it in with a paint brush. It seems to slow down the oxidation and keeps the engine looking good longer.
