Post by oneeye305 » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:49 pm

I'm new to the restoration of vintage Hondas and need to know where to get the correct red paint for my 1965 ca78 Honda Dream.......also I need air filter/bolt/snorkel and any other parts I would need for the air filter.....the only filter parts I can find are from Tialand....any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, if you update your profile to show your location people on here will be more likely to respond to your posts.
Not sure about the paint. Do a search for that and you will probably find what you need. As far as filter items go they are on E-bay regularly I think. That's where I got my rubber snorkel thing as you call it (not sure of proper term for it) But I use one of those foam filters that you oil in conjunction with the snorkel. I got one of those mainly because I didn't want to spend $40 or however much on one of the oem style filters. Works great. Some of the other guys on here will have a better idea on where to get these components from sources here in the states I believe.

Good luck.

Red Paint

Post by conbs » Mon Aug 22, 2011 12:47 pm

I can't remember where I got these codes. I wrote them in the back of my parts book so I must have considered it a pretty good source at the time.

Red. Dupont Imron 6543UM; PPG 71650 and perhaps 71977 or 74359.

Every once in a while cans of paint show up on Ebay. I think the original paint was lacquer and was just sprayed on the bare metal. Depending on how authentic you want to go.......

Have you considered trying to refurbish the original paint?
