ca72 headlight?

Post by Johnny5 » Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:03 am

A ca72 headlight is not a sealed beam?

Will it fit in place of the ca77?

Would it be worth the $$$?

Where would I find the socket for the headlight?

CA72 headlight

Not sure about CA72, but the CA77 used 3 different headlight assemblies. 1 sealed beam (US) and 2 different set ups with 2 different kinds of replaceable bulbs.

I actually bought one of the "replaceable bulb" reflectors and later purchased a socket that I thought was supposed to fit it, but it was for the other style of "replaceable bulb" assembly. So, I ended up purchasing a second socket and (after I purchased the correct bulb) everything fits together correctly.

The screwy thing is that the parts books are different in what they show. I have a '64 hard copy parts book that shows the 3 different kinds (old parts number system, though). The '73 parts book only shows the sealed beam. '68 shows all 3 and has the new numbers. Spend some time looking there to see what you have.
