Not the usual paint color

Post by jbills » Tue May 10, 2011 3:04 pm

I remember in the late 1960's and early 1970's that some of the CL77's in Nashville, TN came in a really ugly brown color. I rode a friend's Scrambler that had this baby crap brown color so I know it existed and he never had it painted that way. I see whenever the color issue comes up that the CL77's are silver, red or blue. Could this have been a local Honda dealer painting them that way? Does anyone else remember this color scheme of brown tank, fenders, side covers and a black frame?

My CL77 came with some nasty brown fenders and sidepanels. I don't think it was original, though.

G-Man, looks like you have your work cut out for you. Should be fun though.

Thanks for the info, Loud Mouse. It may have been a local dealer in Nashville TN painting them that color as we just accepted that it was a factory color. If I am right, I believe I only saw that color scheme on the earlier CL77's.

I have attached a shot of my CL77 last year as the finishing touches were added.

The ugly brown in a picture

I found an old CL72 picture made in the the 1960's with the ugly brown paint scheme. Could this have been just a CL72 color?
