Wow, that was quick. And nicely done, too, George. A few more questions. How many holes in the cylindrical part and the conical end cap? I'm gonna guess 15 holes in the cylindrical part because they don't look diametrically opposed, and 3 in the cap. Also what diameter are the holes?

Thanks again,

Rob

There are 2 holes in the tapered cap. They are about 120 degrees apart and face the outside of the bike.

There are 18 holes in the cylindrical part.

The holes are about 1/8 inch realizing that they are really metric. The bolt hole at the tail is a little larger. I can get the thread measurement next week but we can put any small sturdy bolt there.

The pictures show the outside and inside of the device. The cylindrical parts slide into the washer looking pieces and are tack welded.

Two more photos.

You can see sort of, the holes in the tip. I am sure the exact location is not critical. There are definitely 2 facing the same side the anchor hole is.

Thanks George. I wanted the dimenions to produce an accurate flow or flows to the original.

Gotta make a run to the Metal Supermarket this week so I'll see what they have in thin wall tubing like this.

regards,
Rob

You are the metal magician, Rob.

I am actually taking my 72 CB750 on it's first road trip this week but I will be interested in your shopping trip when I return.

My J C Whitney short baffles arrived. They are more substantial than I imagined. Time to start cutting and grinding to see if I can make them fit.

George, just cut and pasted all your pic and measurements into a Word doc for future reference.

Metal Supermarket did not have any thinwall tubing. So I'm going to have to go into scrounge mode. I'm thinking old bicycle frame tubing might work. Need to measure and cut one apart. I see them all the time in people's trash. Of course, now that I want one, I won't find one or they will all be aluminum frames.

regards,
Rob
