Going out on a whim here, but...

Post by Jethro » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:19 pm

Does anyone by any chance have a CA77 speedometer they could part with? I am currently on the assembly stage of my year long full Dream restoration and the only thing I am in real need of is a speedo. I would even be totally stoked with an inoperative speedo that I could rebuild. In fact I think I would prefer that so I can reset the odometer for the fresh engine overhaul.

Any help would be so appreciated.

Thanks, Jethro

Hey,

You might want to try eBay. I thought I saw one on there the other day. Good luck!

Well I've been keeping a keen eye on sleaze-bay for weeks now and it's funny because just today one popped up. It appears to be in great shape with just over 3,000 on the odometer. The backing is nice and white still too. It was pricy but I bought it. Really only because I'm so close to being done with my restoration and I want to rebuild the speedo and set it to zero for the engine overhaul.

Thats cool you have fam in MT. Montana summers are amazing. I think I'm over the winters though. If you ever get a chance you should come up and take a ride through Yellowstone. Billings isn't too far from the park and the Beartooth Pass is an amazing ride as well, lots of twists and turns. The road tops out at 10,947 ft. so dress warm. I think I'll truck my CA down to the park this July and ride down to Jackson Hole to see some family. If I do it I'll take some pics and post in the interests section.

Anyways I'm just rambling on here. Thanks for the input.
Jethro

Just sitting here reading. Have you ridden a Dream or carborated bike to that altitude? Don't you have to change the jets at that point or damage the bike? Over heating from lack of oxygen? I'm really not sure about all this but I've heard some stories about cars and bikes over heating that were carberated and the newer fuel injected being so great in these situations. Oh how I sit and ponder these things. Hmmm, =-)
