Was there a specific mounting kit for the CB77 for Bates and other saddlebags, or does the kit from another model fit this bike?
I see a few other models referenced here which makes me wonder:

Either way, I'd like to keep an eye out for one.
Thanks.
Saddlebag mounting kit for CB77
CB77 and CB72 were the only mutual fits there I'm afraid. Notice your Bates instructions shows CB350/f, CB450, 500 and 750. All of these had the newer style hinged seat mounts and turn signal mounting locations, unlike the earlier models. This made it much easier for Bates, Buco, and Leer Seigler to make a more universal kit that would fit many models. Since this is more cost efficient There were many more made and are easier(relatively) to find. I have a set of Buco's which mount at the top shock mount, the muffler mount and also have a crossover bar at the rear which connects to the tag mounts. They are much more stable than the Bates mounts having not only 5 mount points, but a support extending under the frame as well.
Good luck in your search!
Revisiting this after some time. So, is it safe to assume it is not easy to find a CB77/72 mounting kit? Is it a matter of just waiting until one turns up on eBay or elsewhere? Yep, it's not an easy thing to find. Ya find it where ya find it. I wouldn't count solely on Ebay cause it's the kind of thing alot of people just throw away when they find an old fixer upper. Your likelyhood of finding one is about equal using other methods. General web search, junkyards, sometimes you even have to buy a whole junk bike to get it.
