handlebar lock

Post by wnbasac » Sat Apr 09, 2011 8:42 pm

ok i looked at the parts manual and couldn't find anything on the handlebar lock?
>
when i put the key in the lock the whole lock moves deep in the frame and its hard to get back out
>
i can even take it completely out of the frame, it is missing the cover but i have one on a spare bike that i can take off
>
what is supposed to hold it in place?
>
shouldn't it just turn and not be pushed in?

tks, lou

It won't turn until ya push it in.
(a spring pushes it out)
Ya push it in so it is in the lock slot and ya turn it to keep it at the in location.
The chrome cap/cover holds it in the triple clamp.
Take a good look at the parts/area and ya will see it is very simple. .............lm

Steering lock

Post by conbs » Sun Apr 10, 2011 11:21 am

Depends on which model you have. CL shows the steering lock on the "Steering Stem Fonrt Fender" page. CA show the lock on the "Wiring Harness Battery" page.

LM has described it really well, but they do have different parts, depending on the bike.

It is APX. 1/8 inch X 1/2 inch and fits to that short round post.
As my parts book shows this assy. was part of the Ign/Lock kit ya never were able to order this assy. ..............lm
