Many thanks to all of you, much appreciated. I'm in Witney Oxfordshire; at present damp and grey!
I was going to measure the oil that was in them except that some of it was expelled onto the floor when the inside parts exited with a plop The WM has two quanties 47 & 52 cc??? The Castrol oils mentioned are appreciated and I'll buy one of them when I know the grade; it looks like water so 2.5 looks right but as it's 46 years old it's difficult to establish.
My CL77 shocks didn't have the slot in the top securing ring as the CB has so I couldn't get them stripped to the stage were I am with the CB.
Have any of you any info about the circlips that I mentioned? As I stated they don't show on the parts book or WS manual?
Check out Phil Denton's website as he make stainless steel top collets and lower adjusting rings plus front fork rings between the headlight brackets and fork shrouds, not to mention the SS versions of the chrome front fork shrouds.
A firm in Austrailia called Overlander Products make exact replicas of silencers, (mufflers) for CA & CB 77's, CB92 etc etc as well as other Jap bilkes and are all pressed shapes like the originals.
Enough ranting folks; thanks for all you meaages, I'm really surprised and grateful for them all. So any more info is appreciated re the circlips & viscosity.

Karl, I believe the differences in the quantities( 47 vs 52 ccs) would be attributed to simply draining and refilling, vs completely dismantling and refilling...........................D

Thnaks Dgormely.

Your suggestion is possibly correct; I put it down to eary WM's and a language problem. Have you any suggestion re the circlips that I found in the lower damper tubes? They don't show in the part books or in anyother information that I've seen.

Cheers

Karl
