Pistons 1/2 way out-Sleeve moved! OUT!

2 pic's attached.

Pic’s attached of my progress, I can see about 1” of both pistons coming out the bottom of the sleeves now! After about 2 months of soaking and 4 days of tourqing down a stud plate and some hammering thrown in for frustration purposes.

Shouldn’t they just slide out easy now?

Lot’s of penetrating oil is being used.

Almost there! Have you tried heating the barrel / sleeves?

Haven't been doing a lot of heating since my small propane torch ran out. (gotta catch it)
Would a hair dryer be hot enough?
They moved another 1/4" last night after working for another 2 hours on them!
In the daytime I turn the engine upside down and spray penetrating oil down from the bottom of the pistons.
Could I use some sort of jack between the top of the crank and bottom of the jugs?

Hiya Roadcap. A hair dryer might work on the highest setting, but I would really go get some more propane and heat all around the cylinders evenly (not the pistons). Actually, a few hot/cold cycles will do wonders to break rusty metal-metal bonds.

Personally, I use a butane torch (much more concentrated and hotter heat).

I would also be VERY hesitant to apply any type of force onto the crank :(

Looks great. If your pressing them out the hard part is now that the pistons are down as far as they can go because the crank is all the way down. What I have done is put wood blocks between the cylinder and the block and then continue with the pressing. The two I have done this year is soaked them like you have and built a press like has been discussed on this board before. Once you get them under pressure you give them a light tap with a hammer and out the slowly slide.

Update, I had pressure on the right side cyl that was supported underneath, the left side was not supported.
I heated the sleve and cylinder on the left side w/ propane and all of a sudden a POP, the sleeve on the left side popped up out of the cylinder about 3/8"!
Is that OK?
Seems the pistons are not making as much progress as it was, could one side be bottomed out?
Keep pressure and pounding?

I just went through this with mine. I used the same steps as you but i may have done a little more hammering out of frustration then you did. Mine finally popped out the other day, now on to get the motor work done.
