C78 right side controls

Post by roadcapDen » Wed Feb 09, 2011 9:32 am

Hi "Nicest" People.

My 1965 C78 Dream 305 has winkers but the right side controls that where on there only had the starter button not the winker (blinker) switch.
I have an extra right side controls w/ the proper switches but there is no hole for the throttle cable to go into??
Anybody have an extra right side control that includes winker and e-start switch with the throttle cable hole?
Hard to see in pic but the old one is not as wide as the proper one so I can't switch the tops and bottoms.
make sense?

Hopefully the pic attached.

Your link is broken. Here's the pic you were wanting to post

Wish I knew more about the blinker stuff or I'd chime in.

Thanks to Joe for pic and letting me know the control is for an inside the h'bar throttle cable.
maybe I can just drill a hole in the bottom for the throttle cable?

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The inside would have to be modified which is probably not doable. If you can't find an original, you're next best thing is to look for controls that will work.

I'm planning on putting blinkers on my CB77 which did not come with any. Instead of modifying the original controls, I picked up a set of similar era controls off of another honda that had blinkers. They were labeled as CB175 but I can't say for sure if that's what they really are. Here's a matching set like the ones I purchased.

most importantly, the right side has the correct throttle setup. Not sure if that helps at all.

Den, I wouldn't modify that switch. They are quite valuable and hard to find. You may find someone on the forum that has the correct one to trade, or as cyclon said, find an alternative switch to use.

Hi Den. That switch with the starter button and the thumb switch for the winkers looks like the proper one to me. On mine there is no hole for the throttle cable as it dissappears into the handlebar within the enclosed switch-housing. Regards, Jeff H.

Den, do you have a non-std handlebar or something? I mean, one with no throttle channel for the slider hinge?
