Dissasembly of a CB 72 189 deg. crankDissasembly of a CB 72 189 deg. crankCan anyone tell me how the crank is taken apart to replace the two inner crankshaft bearings? I will also need the numbers of the bearings to find replacements. Any vendor purchase reccomendations ?

Thank You
PJ
Re: Dissasembly of a CB 72 189 deg. crankThats a heavy under taking splitting the crank !! If youve never done a crank before dont let this be your first. As for bearings I dont know what numbers I can tell ya that most bearings are readily availabe from a bearing house.

georGe
Re: Dissasembly of a CB 72 180 deg. crankI have done many cranks on singles but I can't seem to fathom what the tool would be, to separate this specific twin cylinder Honda crank. Is it keyed in such a way that it could be switched from a 180 to a 360 crank ? how is it aligned and what kind of force is required to separate it ? Also someone out there must know the bearing numbers and where they might be found ?

Thanks
PJ
Re: Dissasembly of a CB 72 189 deg. crankI have the Honda part numbers for the bearings but do not know what they cross reference to.
I dont believe that the crank pins are keyed which is why you need to have the correct alignment rods for assembly.
There is a "special" jig from what I understand for pressing these cranks,I looked in a Honda tool catalog from the 60's and do not see any reference to it.
Try getting in touch w/ Bill Silver as he has a exstnsive knowledge of these engines . You can find him some where on honda305.com or here... http://allexperts.com/displayExpert.asp?Expert=26814

georGe
