Kick stand paint color for CA77

Post by bbap » Thu Dec 23, 2010 8:58 am

Hoping sombody can help. I removed the Kickstand and did a rust removal. It was so rusty that there was zero paint left on it and trying to figure out if the original color was Black or a Dull Aluminum-silver.

(*As corrected*): CA78 - 3111XX - Frame / CA77E - 3161XX - Engine

All C/CA center stands were BLACK.
Even the WHITE bike issue.
Ya may want to check the engine number. ......lm

Thanks LM, I'll be working on the Center Stand next. This bike has the kick stand on it that is void of any paint color. Is that Black as well? I saw one on ebay that looked Silver, but of course could have been painted or the wrong one.

Good eye on the number. Correctly:
CA78 - 3111XX - Frame
CA77E - 3161XX - Engine

The side stand was zinc plated not painted.
Numbers now cause me to wonder if the top case or engine are original. ............lm

Thanks LM,
I'm owner #3 on this so anything is possible. It does not look like the engine has ever come off this machine just based on the condition of the fasteners. I would doubt anyone has put a wrench on any of the bolts/nuts due to no rounding and no issues noted.

A difference of 5000+- sure causes me ta wonder.
Look behind the bolt head and washer and nuts for evidence of paint scratch. ...........lm

I removed the two top mounting bolts carefully, but just turning the nut on on the right side. Removed the bolt and paint is perfect and undesturbed under the heads. If the engine is non-original, somebody took great care in removing fasteners.
