Lucky Find? Any info aprreciatedLucky Find? Any info aprreciatedHows it going Honda 305 forum, its my 1st visit to this site and most definitely wont be my last. I have acquired a 196_? Honda 305 Superhawk CB77 through a basement find. the tank has fuel in it, and the engine has compression, there are 9,000 miles on it, and most importantly it doesnt run to my knowledge, its been sitting inside since 1972, or the last year it was registered.
I am starting off my pursuit of knowledge about the bike such as its year from the serial #'s Frame : cb77-1054506 ; Engine : cb77e-1054571. Any ideas? The lower forks are silver instead of the black painted on the rest of the bike, I am curious if anyone knows what kind of problems might have sent this bike to a basement 30 some odd years ago? also any ideas of where to start as far as a minimal restoration to ride next spring? I have attached a few pics. please comment with any reactions... ScoreJay, nice find. It appears to be a late 67, near the end of production. Start by cleaning out the complete fuel system, tank, petcock, lines and carbs. Change the oil, new battery, spark plugs and check the air filters. Also look for rodent damage to any of the wiring. It might just fire up. Good luck and welcome to the forum......................................D Oh yeah, post your location in your profile
Welcome to the forum Jay. Nice find! Looks to be all there which is a plus. You'll most certainly find a wealth of knowledge on this forum and probably end up on the phone with LOUDMOUSE a few times along the way.
I would start by getting some manuals for the bike so you know what goes where and what to look for. awesome find!post up some more pix when you can, good luck!
looks like someone either swapped the cables for the wrong length (too long) or swapped the bars from ape hangers (not out of question with that back rest) back to the stock bars, but left the long cables on before putting away.
May have swapped the bars back low, kept the long cables, and couldn't get the throttle to respond correctly (sticking due to the sharp bends and curves in the cable). just a thought. '65 CB77

I think it is 6MM line that you can not find at your local parts store. Ohio Cycle has some. Use carb cleaner to make sure the carbs work well and the slides go up and down easily. New battery and a good clean up and you may have a great find!
