How long is exhaust header?

Post by zoom » Sat Nov 06, 2010 5:50 pm

How long is the exhaust header supposed to be. Looks like some PO wacked some off the end to fit on some shorty mufflers. Are the NOS on ebay any good?
Thanks
Jay

Jay

What bike are we talking here? Or is that one of those philosophical questions that come up from time to time? :-)

They both have poor cuts at there ends, so I am assuming some of each are gone. Can somebody do a quick measure?

Thats kind of tough to measure so here's a stock exhaust setup on a '66. Maybe you can scale it of the pictures. You can see the right is about an inch longer than the left by looking at the footpegs, and the headers stick into the mufflers about 1-1/2 inches as I remember. Steer clear of any headers from Thailand. You're better off trying to find used OEM's. They will be rusty on the inside, so not that noticable, just try to find some without a lot of dents.
