OK, I started reading this thread because I think I have to look in behind there to see what's going on with my starter. You guys have been having some fun!!! I'm an ex-farmer. We used to fix everything with a Johnson bar and 3 feet of hollow pipe on the end of it. Now that's some leverage! Wish me luck, somethings grinding inside there!
I'll give you one thing, there's some passionate people on here, I love it! John.

Never use a hammer or an other tool to 'shock' loose a magneto !

It could lose it's field, and then you got yourself a useless magneto that doesn't give you enough 'spark'

Yes, I did that once; knocked the tesla into the middle of the next week; had to wait seven days to use the bike again!

6 pages on how to get one bolt loose. This must be some sort of broken record. Shocking that bolt loose is the right way to do it and while it is theoretically possible to lose magnetism, that risk is very low.

More to the point, did whasisname get the bolt off yet?

Silverclerk, teazer. I think he nodded off a while back owing to our collective digressions.☺ It's not exactly been a concise thread, I agree; entertaining though.

Hi,

Well, If we can write 12 pages on a simple question about oil, 6 about a bolt isn't that difficult isn't it ?
