Mike, I did mean the holes in the aluminum plate, and two gaskets point to the front of the motor when installed. Sounds like Ed may have figured it out for you. Now you're gonna have to figure out how to get all of that beer to Ed's house. :-)

BlowbySince you did NOT have blowby when the engine was last assembled, but you do have it now, something has changed since then and I would guess Hotshoe is on the right track. Jensen recently started a thread that explains how he torques the head after a rebuild. 3 times.
Incorret installation of the vent holes in the gaskets/plate probably would not have had no blowby and then gotten worse. Would they? It could also be your head or cylinders not being true, but that seems less likely to me since you had no blowby when first re-assembled. Yet, some combination of the torque/head problems might be the best explanation. Anyone disagree?
Re: BlowbyYep. .....lm
blowbyGuess I have the plate backwards. At least I won't have to pull the engine to fix that.
Conbs,I took the bike for a short spin and idled it after reassembly. At that point everything seemed ok. I finally took it for a ride and stopped after about 5 miles. No problems then, everything dry. Took it for the 5 mile return trip up the long hill and was blowing oil when I got back. blowbyGot the plate turned around with the holes to the front of the engine. Took it for a 3 mile ride but this time I went straight for the mile & half hill that always seems to push the oil out the vent hose.
Came back from the ride without loosing a drop of oil! Didn't have time to go any further but will take it on a longer ride this weekend and post the results.
