Noob, just getting started on a 67 CL77
Hi,
Are the fork ears on the CL the same as on CB72 / 77 's ?, I really have no idea, since I don't have a CL, and I don't have a parts manual of it. Dents on fork ears : find something with the same angle (I use apiece of wood) and press the dents out. Jensen assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)
Jensen,
I really don't know if they are the same. I'm at a slight technological disadvantage. My computer died. Like really died... There was smoke and everything. I took the side cover off and found soot on the hard-drive. My phone is pretty fancy so I do most of my web stuff (like right now) from my phone. Problem is that most fiche's online are in Flash which isn't supported on my phone. So I can't look up parts numbers. It also seems I've made a mess of one of my ears, not only did I not get the dents out, I also was able to take the perfectly round hole on top and make it a nice oblong. Then, while attempting to restore it's roundness, I flattened and folded in one of the sides. Now, I would like to learn how to fix dents, at this point, I think I'm going to get new ones and in my off time, while waiting for machining, chrome, powder coating, etc. I'll play around with fixing the ears I have. Maybe I can find a forum that deals with... I don't know what you'd call the art of fixing dents??? Autodody? Sheetmetal? Thanks, Joel oh, found a place that will bead blast my engine (80 grit glass then glass shards) for $80. Does that sound like a good price?
Congrats on that find. Now it's your turn to make a contribution to this site. Please scan that parts book and put it somewhere on the web where we can download it. I have yet to find a CL parts book available anywhere on the web.
And if you do not want to do it, send it to me and I will do it for you and return the book and a PDF version on CD. Thanks and regards, Rob
After reading Bill Silver's book and my parts manual, I noticed a differance between the two... In Bill's book there is not a bearing at the end of the Cluch Lifter Rod but in the parts manual there is. Got me thinking, I didn't remember seeing a clutch lifter rod or bearing...
So, I just pulled the transmission aparts. Not excactly sure what I was looking for, I did a search and found a post between e3steve and wilf that had pictures (I love pictures) of the rod. Well, I found something I think might be the clutch lifter rod but it looks differant then the one I saw in the post. (No bearing but defenently a place for one) then thinking how much I liked the pictures I just looked at, I took out my camera and started snapping away. At all parts transmission. My computer is broken so tomorrow I'll go to my neighbors and up load them. There were a few things I was concerned about, maybe you guys can tell me if there's anything else I should be concerned about. Until then, if there is anything I should focus the lens on tonight, let me know. Joel
